I started acting in minor but important roles supporting other cast members. In doing this, I developed my team work skills as well as being introduced to principles surrounding theatre dramatics.

I also identified the charity's need for an online presence so I agreed to re-renovate the charities web site making it more user-friendly and therefore increasing its value as an online presence to the charity. This included obtaining simpler internet address for the site as well as improving the accessibility and functionality in the actual design of the page layout. I took this opportunity to successfully teach myself about the basics surrounding web design using HTML and CSS programming in Dreamweaver. In addition, I assisted the charity with their publicity. I was responsible for co-managing press relations. This entailed communicating with internal personnel and with the press in writing press releases, and producing other professional copy for the web site.

In 2004, my responsibility, as the production critique, was to assist in monitoring the quality of performances for the production of Freedom. In doing this, I observed the rehearsal process, learnt the script for the entire production and watched every performance. This enabled me to report back to the director suggesting improvements to the reactions given by actors and stage effects relating to the context of the script sections.

I very much enjoyed this as this was in line with my enthusiasm for the performing arts enabling me to think about the quality of acting being shown. This required social awareness, and knowledge of stage principles and terms. To an extent, it gave me some creative directorial input to the outcome of the production.
