Personal StatementI have just completed my degree and I am now looking for a new challenge - I am a highly motivated and determined person. From studying broadcasting in great depth, I have looked at how different symbols, signs, and signifiers have an effect on how audience members perceive people in the media, and in a wider context, in society. My ambition is to have an outstanding career in the media having the opportunity to educate and entertain society by creating prolific programming and performances revolutionising people's perceptions of reality and identity. I feel that working in the entertainment industry will also satisfy my passion to change perceptions thus adding value to our society, and my need to work in a creative, vibrant, collaborative and an ever-changing fast-paced industry which is always delivering challenges and diversity. This is in accordance with my personality thus being a very creative and enthusiastic thinker aiming to look beyond the norm collaboratively or individually and to apply myself to different kinds of situations I am currently organising for me and a friend to do a charity tandem skydive to raise money for Canine Partners and Comic Relief. I successfully negotiated at least five corporate sponsorship deals through my contacts. I am on a mission to find a doctor who will validate my Declaration of Medical Fitness. I have recently completed producing and directing a television documentary following the progress of my skydive project entitled 'Like A Bat Out Of Hell (part 1)'. I am very determined to reach my goals and respectively will do anything to achieve them. As director and producer, I negotiated contracts for my employees and had to show strong leadership whilst maintaining approachability towards crew. I also oversaw negotiations of various major locations including The Eden Project as well as securing a period of filming in the air from a helicopter free-of-charge. I managed to arrange, in co-ordination with my production manager, for me to be hoisted to the top of one of the domes at The Eden Project. Whilst being suspended thirty feet high in a very uncomfortable position - mentally and physically, I successfully directed my crew who were on the ground. At times I had to make critical on-the-spot creative decisions. I had to be very professional, diverse, and disciplined in encountering problems as most of my production is filmed amongst the public using different crew at each location. This comes very naturally to me as I also employ Personal Assistants to help me physically every day. These are not always the same people, so I have had to be diverse in the way I manage my employees. More details of this can be found on My Major Production project page at http://www.jamesrose.com/education/UCF/B303-MAJOR/index.html . This formed the major final project of my degree in Broadcasting on which I had several life changing experiences which has made me into a better and more dynamic person who is always open to further improvement. I have a diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming, which is simply advanced interpersonal skills - this includes building rapport when meeting and working with new people. I love working as a team and if appropriate will consult others if possible. I find the best motivation is humour. I avoid myself or my employees having bad feelings about any aspect of what we do and try to maintain a light-hearted but professional atmosphere at all times. My NLP training has helped me to read people more accurately, and to see situations and opinions from different angles as to my own. This has put me at an advantage in identifying and avoiding any negative situations before they arise thus preventing any upset in my workforces or when I am working in group projects. You can read more about my diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming by reading 'My INLPTA Diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming - What Is It?' which can be found at http://www.jamesrose.com/education/NLP-DIPLOMA/index.html . I have an array of computing skills - this includes advanced word processing and spreadsheet design. I've been using Microsoft Word for approximately fourteen years developing my word-processing skills at the same time. I can confidently create a presentable document setting the correct tabs and other alignments using the ruler, creating tables, manipulating borders, typefaces and page layouts (e.g. setting margins), and designing and saving templates. I am also familiar with creating forms in Word using text fields and configuring and customising toolbars. In my final project of my degree, I had to perform and organise all production finances and administration. I was able to create budgets and other self-calculating spreadsheet files using formulas. I also have experience in creating and using customised macros to organising and manipulating data within spreadsheets. I aim to always expand my skills and knowledge throughout life thus always improving and adapting myself to fit different situations and therefore becoming a very dynamic and open-minded person.
