B208 Audio production - 'The Hobo Blues'

Vlick here to go backk to the Broadcasting Degree home page.

In Autumn 2005, the Cornish band Cahooty had the honour of having one of their hits, 'The Hobo Blues', being professionally re-recorded, mixed, and turned into a music video. This was my first major audio project - I was a part of a team of five students who each had their own role.

I worked alongside a fellow student and we were responsible for the actual recording and mixing of the sound track. The band were a pleasure to work with as they permitted the production team full editorial control over the project. Our group obtained the highest mark out of the entire year.

We used Pro-Tools to record and mix the audio - this presented me with a huge learning curve which I successfuly overcame by gaining an in-depth knowledge of the system. This project also re-enforced the value of good team work as we overcame challenges by coming together as a team.

You can hear a sound clip of the original version of 'The Hobo Blues' by going to Cahooty's web site at http://www.cahooty.co.uk and clicking on Track 5 in the 'Songs' section.
